Trepson Toddler Scholarship

Open: Spring 2018 Term

Your Tuition Reduced to $20/week Until Your Child is 7 years old!

Deadline January 19, 2017

Renewable Scholarship for Toddler through Preschool Years

(Age 14 months – 6 years)

Why are we giving this scholarship?

We have a 14-month-old toddler that needs a peer for more emotional/social development.

What are we offering?

We are looking to enroll one toddler (must be between 14-18 months old) on scholarship now for the Tuesdays/Thursdays program 1:30-4:30pm. Your child will have the opportunity to stay on this same scholarship until he/she is 7 years old. This scholarship will subsidize your weekly fee so that you are only responsible for $20 per week for the program. Please note the program is normally $70 per week for two days.

Why should you apply for this scholarship?

  1. Your child will gain balanced development and enrichment now that will help him/her be at the top of the class he/she starts school.
  2. Your child will have a spot reserved for preschool. There will be no waiting list.
  3. We use the Montessori curriculum as the foundation of the program. It is a research-based program that has been helping children excel above their peers in all areas of development, for over a century. There is no other Montessori program in our area.
  4. We are on target to meet or exceed the Quality Rating System level 4 by March 2018.
  5. We have a growing music program that will be in full swing by June 2018. This sort of scholarship will no longer be available.
  6. Meals/snacks are included.
  7. Parent and Teacher partnerships are supported. Parent and me time is included for the benefit of your little one.
  8. Staff is well educated and trained in early childhood development. The director/teacher holds a Masters Degree in Education.
  9. Your child will be continuously assessed and plans are made to his/her individual needs.
  10. You are giving yourself a break to take care of your own needs while your child is a quality early childhood education program.

Trepson is on track to achieve the Iowa Quality Rating System (QRS) level 4 by March 31, 2018. Out of the registered child development/preschool programs within a 10 mile radius of Storm Lake, only 25% of them have obtained QRS level 4 rating. “We have prepared rigorously to show that we are a quality preschool in Storm Lake, Iowa. Though we are pretty certain we will meet QRS level 4 by March 31, 2018, we secretly hope to meet the QRS level 5 before the end of the Spring 2018 semester. That would make us the first preschool in the area to meet this level,” says Director Trevina Jefferson.

Iowa’s Quality Rating System (QRS), a voluntary child care rating system for child development homes, licensed child care centers and preschools, and Child care programs that are operated by school districts.

The QRS was developed:
  • to raise the quality of child care in Iowa
  • to increase the number of children in high-quality child care settings
  • to educate parents about quality in child care
There are five levels in the QRS.  For a program to be rated at:
Level 1:  all the Level 1 criteria must be met.
Level 2:  all the Level 1 and Level 2 criteria must be met.
Levels 3-5:  all the Level 1 and Level 2 criteria must be met, and then the program must earn a minimum of one point in each of the Level 3-5 categories.  For levels 3-5, the level is determined by the total number of points earned.
The charts below outline the criteria for homes and centers.
